As the school busses warm up their engines and the office supply stores prepare for the big upcoming rush, I hear so many people say the same thing…”Where did the summer go?” Â Well, I am happy to report that I know exactly where my summer went this year…to the fabulous Jersey shore and then to beautiful Tuscany in Italy and then all around the Mediterranean Sea. Â I have no complaints whatsoever! Â
That being said…it is time for back to school and a “regular” routine once again. Â I’ve started to pull out all of my beginning of the school year materials including the blog I kept with my students. Â I also looked briefly back at some of my posts on this blog from last September when I was diligently writing 1,000 words a day and I am going to try to do so again. Â This time around it should be a lot easier (and much more fun) since I no longer have to worry about the graduate school requirements that bogged me down last year. Â (I’ve decided to take a break, at least for this semester, from taking any classes.)
I’d also like to give myself a goal of completing the middle school novel by December. Â The majority of the story is already written, so I think I can do it. Â I never liked the idea of deadlines when it comes to creative writing, but I did well last year with the deadlines for my thesis, much better than I thought I would actually, so perhaps approaching this project in a similar manner will work. Â We’ll see!
It’s a good idea to refocus and revamp your writing goals every once in a while… What are you all working on???

Hello, Melissa!
After a long hiatus … trying to reach a balance in life … family, learning, writing, socializing, and entertainment, I wanted to touch base with you again.
I am working on my blog more faithfully, and have tucked some writing craft knowledge in my mental file box through conferences, craft books, workshops. And of couse writing, writing, writing. I also have a web site at:

Currently, the National Novel Writing Month (November) has captured my writing time. I hope your novel “due” by Christmas is going well. Please keep in touch. See you at my blog site!
